How do I get the water out of the pipe for soldering?

In order to solder a leaking joint, I have to get the water out of the copper pipe first. This pipe leads to the boiler, how can I drain the pipe?
The pipe brings hot water out of the boiler in the basement. The problem is, I can’t remove it to drain the water. Any ideas?
